After completion of the 3-day AVID 101 Media Composer Editing Essentials course and the 2-day AVID 110 Media Composer Effects Essentials course, editors can elect to write a certification examination through Sheridan. Contact us for details.
Editor Level Two Certification
Complete courses MC 101, 110, 201, 205, 239 PLUS complete additional hands-on experience in order to write certification Level 2 exam. Professional editors with equivalent years experience may wish to write the exam at any time.

Meet your Avid Certified Instructor - Didier Kennel
Didier Kennel is an award-winning freelance documentary editor who, for the past 24 years has worked in news and broadcast with CNN (Africa), National Geographics, CBS, Discovery Channel, CBC, BBC, Global, Life, Prime, TSN and TVO. His corporate video credits include work with international corporations such as Asian Development Bank, American Express, Kellogs, IBM, Sears, Upjohn, Revlon and Xerox. As a Certified Avid Instructor since 1994, Didier is a highly respected educator, having successfully trained editors across North America, Europe, South America and Asia. He provides in-depth, quality learning and training opportunities on the most current Avid hardware and software platforms. From beginner editor to the more advanced professional looking to upgrade Avid skills, Didier ensures that each client receives the best training suited to the individual's needs. Didier provides specialized training on the Avid NitrisDX, Adrenaline, Symphony, Media Composer and XpressPro systems.
As well as his status as freelance editor and Avid Certified Instructor, Didier has been a valued Professor in Sheridan's undergraduate and post-graduate Media, Film and Television programs for the past 18 years. In 2008, Didier received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Award of Excellence. The AVID Bootcamp is our most popular course offering. The Bootcamp is the quickest and most cost effective option for students looking to complete their first two levels of AVID Media Composer training. The course runs nine (9) consecutive days and includes all the curriculum, exercises, training media and manuals from the MEDA70002 AVID MC101, MEDA70003 AVID MC110 and the MEDA70003 AVID MC201 courses.

Overview:
This course is the first step in achieving confidence,creativity, and efficiency with Avid Media Composer 6, the non-linearfilm/video editing application used in most movie and television productions.Along with its counterpart, (MC 110) MEDIA COMPOSER 6: PART 2–EFFECTSESSENTIALS, this course provides the foundation for Media Composer UserCertification.
This course leads you through the interface andbasic editing techniques before moving on to trimming, fine-tuning the edit,adjusting audio, handling multicamera editing, adding transitions, adding titles,and outputting your finished project. The training is hands-on and featuresproject-based lessons in which you work on real-world projects ranging fromextreme sports and dazzling documentary footage to an episode of a current television show. This course is the first step in mastering Avid MediaComposer 6, the standard editing system used by professionals in the film andtelevision industries. The course is also appropriate for AVID Symphony users.

This courseis for video editors who understand the basics of the editing tools in MediaComposer and are ready to move ahead and learn the fundamentals of creatingeffects within Avid Media Composer 6, the non-linear film/video editingapplication used in most movie and television productions. This course providesa solid foundation in Media Composer audio and video effects capabilities and,in conjunction with MC101 Editing Essentials course, will prepare you forAvid’s User Level certification in Media Composer 6. You will be taken throughthe basic effects-building interface; then, using a real-world, hands-onapproach, you’ll learn fundamental audio adjustments and effects, multilayeredvideo compositing, tracking, stabilization, various retiming methods, and basiccolor-grading techniques.
