Art Fundamentals

Although many practicing artists eventually come to be known for a particular genre or distinctive technique, most are well versed in the skills and concepts shared among all visual arts disciplines.

Art Fundamentals is a one-year certificate program that provides students with a solid foundation in art and design as well as an opportunity to assess which area of the visual arts is most appropriate to their abilities and ambitions. A diverse range of courses offered in varied media provides students with an opportunity to refine their existing knowledge and skills, as well as learn new applications in the areas of art and design.

The program features a foundation curriculum in the visual arts with a focus on drawing, design, and painting, including explorations of art theory and studio practice. Students will learn the fundamentals of art practice, enabling them to build a foundation of knowledge, and assess which area of the visual arts is most appropriate to their talent and ability
