Scholarships

Today, Sheridan is focused on increasing the number of scholarships available to our students to help ensure they have the resources necessary to begin and complete their education. Scholarships assist students financially, encourage academic excellence by motivating students to achieve, and create an exciting learning environment by attracting the top students. At the same time, scholarships give Sheridan the ability to encourage the best students to apply and complete their education at this institute.

Each year, a growing number of students seek financial aid to help manage their education costs. In fact, 52% received financial aid last year. Federal and Provincial budget cuts, combined with rising tuition fees and changes in legislation, are resulting in a high number of students without the financial resources to pursue post-secondary education. For many award recipients, support they receive from our donors makes it possible to stay in school and put their education first. This is why our donors are so important.

Named scholarships begin at $1,000. Smaller gifts are welcome and go towards supporting existing Sheridan scholorships. Donors select criteria for their scholarship and students must apply and be approved by the Awards Office for the funding.

Criteria for applying for a scholarship may include:

  • Full-time enrollment in a specific program or area of study
  • Good or specific academic standing
  • Volunteer or Community Service hours
  • Citizenship or permanent residency
  • Geographical location

As a scholarship donor, you will be recognized in our Convocation Program, which is distributed to over 8,000 attendees at graduation ceremonies.  Your name will also be listed in the Annual Report. You will be invited to the Awards Ceremony and exhibition(s) where you will have the opportunity to meet the recipients as well as our faculty, students and their families.

Your support will go a long way in helping to ensure that students have the financial means to complete their education, while continuing to reward their hard work and determination.  We sincerely hope you will contribute to Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning scholarship funds this year.
