Fall 2010 semester

Welcome to the Fall 2010 semester! Sheridan wants your transition to be a smooth one. Below is a list of the things you need to do to get started. Remember - school starts on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010.

TIMETABLES:
You will be able to view your timetable from August 25, 2010. To access your timetable – log into myStudent Centre with your user name and password*, and follow the instructions below:

  • Click on the Enroll link under Academics
  • Click on Weekly Calendar View – your timetable is date sensitive; fill in ‘Week of:’ as 09/07/2010

Need to make changes to your timetable? You should always discuss your decision to change your timetable or program with a Student Advisor in the Student Advisement Centre (Trafalgar Road– Room B104, Davis – Room B231) or with your Program Coordinator. If you decide to change your timetable or switch programs, please visit the Office of the Registrar Triage Station (Trafalgar – Room D100, Davis – Room B201, Skills Training Centre – Room A1) and book an appointment to meet with a Records Specialist.

  • Course adds can be made until September 13th
  • Course drops can be made until September 20th
  • Program changes can be made until September 13th (space permitting)

ADVANCED STANDING
If you have taken courses at another college or university within the past five years, you may be eligible for Advanced Standing (an exemption from one or more of your Sheridan courses). To get more information about applying for Advanced Standing, visit the Student Advisement Centre.

FINANCIAL AID (OSAP):
OSAP loans will begin to be released at the start of term for students.

Those students with a May Not Continue (NC) or Academic Probation status where they are directed that they MUST see their academic advisor (AP2) may not collect OSAP funding until their academic standing indicates that they are allowed to continue in their program.

Keep in mind:

  • Loans are not automatically deposited into your account at the beginning of the term
  • You need to visit the Financial Aid Office (Trafalgar Road– Room D100, Davis – Room B200) to pick up your OSAP funding each semester you are attending Sheridan and have applied for OSAP assistance
  • Before visiting the Financial Aid Office and/or waiting in line, you are encouraged to:
    • log in to your OSAP application at http://osap.gov.on.ca and check the status of your application (click on 'Total Funding' to ensure funding has been issued)
    • ensure you have the required identification and banking information which includes:
      • Social Insurance Card
      • valid government issued photo ID
      • a void cheque or your bank account number and bank transit number
    • The National Student Loans Service Centre will be on-campus.

GENERAL EDUCATION, BREADTH AND PROGRAM ELECTIVES:
Online selection of cross college general education course electives will begin August 25, 2010. If you are required to select an elective class, you will receive notification via your Sheridan email account.

PARKING PASSES
If you have prepaid or need to pay for a parking permit, please visit the front counter of the Office of the Registrar at any campus (Trafalgar – Room D100, Davis – Room B201, Skills Training Centre – Room A1).
