POSTING A JOB
I have a job opportunity for students... can I post my flyers on campus? With the introduction of our job posting system, we are posting all jobs online, rather than using flyers and bulletin boards as we did previously. This way students and alumni may access opportunities from home, while on placement, etc. and as a result your opportunity reaches the greatest amount of people and is ensured to reach the appropriate target audience. When you have a job ready to post, gather up the details and it will take just a few minutes to fill out our job posting form. Your posting will be reviewed and will usually go live within one business day.
What if I want to target a specific group of students? If you are looking to target a specific group of students or academic program, please let us know and we will not only post this opportunity, but we will also send a note to the faculty of that program, in order to draw attention to your position.
How long will my position be posted on your site? We typically post positions for 30 days at a time. However, if you wish to have your job posted for a longer or shorter period of time, please include this information in the alloted space on the job posting form
What can I do to help me get a speedy and targeted response to my posting? Students tend to scan lists of job titles and then click on those they are interested in so the more descriptive the job title the better. Job postings with clearly defined salary or remuneration system tend to attract more attention. When listing desired qualifications and experience, it is useful to distinguish between those that are essential and those that are an asset. A detailed job description that clearly defines duties and responsibilities will better enable students to assess their suitability and therefore raise the likelihood of relevant applicants.
RECRUITING ON CAMPUS
I would like to come to campus and recruit. How do I go about this? We provide a number of services to employers to assist with their recruiting needs. These include career fairs, information sessions, networking sessions and our Employers-on-campus series. Please contact our Employment Development Specialist, Kerri Zanatta-Buehler, part of our Employer Services Team.
I would like to set up a booth on campus and recruit students. How will I go about this and what is the cost? This opportunity is what we call our Employer on Campus series, where we will set the employer up in a high traffic area of the college for a few hours at a time to promote their opportunities. This service is free of charge and is offered at both the Trafalgar and Davis campuses. Please contact our Employment Development Specialist, Kerri Zanatta-Buehler, part of our Employer Services Team.
I would like to visit a specific class and speak to those students. How can I arrange this? This request is considered a targeted information session to a specific program. It is not always possible to book actual class time, due to curriculum course load and timetables, so we suggest booking a presentation time and space on campus to hold your session and then promoting it to those students during a time period when they are not in class. We will deliver the information to those students through their faculty and promote your visit ahead of time.
CAREER FAIRS & EVENTS
Do you hold career fairs and events on campus? We hold a number of events on campus some of which are program-specific, while others are targeted to the entire college community.
When are your career fairs held? We secure our dates for each academic year at the conclusion of the previous year and those dates are typically set by the end of May. Check our list of employment events.
Do you have events in the fall or in the winter? The majority of our career fairs are held in the winter semester (Jan-Apr), however, from time to time we will hold an event in the fall, depending on the request of academic programs.
Do you host networking events? The networking events that occur on campus are program-specific and generally hosted by the academic schools. They are often held in “Business after Hours” format.
