Purdue University Online Writing Center is one of the best online writing labs available. It has a plentiful assortment of online handouts on every writing topic imaginable, from grammar to vocabulary--great for quick references while you write assignments.

APA Style Formatting Guide Need to follow APA style for more than just your bibliography? This guide explains how to use APA style to format your paper's margins, title page, figures, appendices, etc, with many examples of actual usage.

Works Cited Sample Entries explains how to cite print, non-print and online resources using MLA style citation.

SPELLING & GRAMMAR

Basic Elements of Grammar Guide the punctuation section of this site from the University of Calgary explains the correct and incorrect usage for each punctuation mark.

Definitions of Basic Sentence Parts Click on each sentence element in this page's chart to be directly linked to its corresponding explanation. It's very easy to use.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGAUAGE (ESL)

REFERENCE DICTIONARIES

Dictionary.com Everything you need for spelling and vocabulary help is here. This site provides definitions from several different dictionaries. It also offers a full thesaurus, as well as translation tools and games. Check out the "Ask Dr. Dictionary" section to find out helpful word usage and grammar information.

Dictionary of English usage is helpful if you don’t know when to use a word. The website is also versatile; look up any word and the smart search engine will transfer you to the proper dictionary section.
