Student Advisement is your first stop for any questions/concerns you have about your student experience. We are your source for information and advice on anything related to Sheridan. We work closely with other student support services and College areas to ensure we have the most up-to-date information to pass on to you. Information Specialists and Student Advisors will help you explore options and work with you to develop your next steps to stay on track and achieve success. Sheridan Athletics and Recreation strives to enhance the quality of student life by providing gender-balanced varsity representation; high-quality recreational programming; and leading-edge exercise facilities. Our six varsity teams (men's and women's basketball soccer and volleyball) represent the institution throughout the year, competing in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA).
Students also have the opportunity to interact with one another outside the classroom in fun, recreational activities (intramural sports league, instructional fitness classes and general use of the Better Bruin Fitness Centres) that challenges their body as much as their minds.

All course textbooks, materials and supplies can be purchased from the Bookstore. Supplies for courses offered at Trafalgar and Skills Training Centre campuses will be stocked at the Trafalgar Bookstore. Courses offered at Davis/St.Joseph's campus will be stocked at the Davis Campus Bookstore.
Your instructor will inform you of the required textbook or supplies on the first night of class. Check course outlines for required texts.

The Career Centre has staff and resources to help you choose programs and plan your continuing education, identify your areas of interest and get ready to find employment. You can choose to see an Employment Consultant or Career Counsellor in person, attend a career education event or access our online resources to get you started.

Co-operative Education has traditionally provided support and work term opportunities for approximately 2000 students annually across 34 diploma, post-graduate certificate and degree programs. Students attend a seven-week co-op preparation course and work one-on-one with their Co-operative Education Advisors to hone their resumes, interviewing skills and job search strategies. Job Developers actively mine the labour market for high quality co-op positions where students can apply previous academic learning to a work setting. Students are expected to set learning goals and reflect on their co-op opportunity, while their employer submits an employer evaluation of the student. Together, the totality of this experience embodies Co-operative Education at Sheridan.

Counselling is offered to help you build solutions to your own personal, emotional or interpersonal concerns that may impact your academic success at Sheridan. Counselling appointments are free, confidential and readily available. Follow the link for drop in times, locations and information on how to book an appointment. There is hope, get connected.

Every year, Sheridan awards over $4 million in bursaries, scholarships and awards that are in addition to government funding. Most Sheridan students are eligible for some type financial assistance. The Financial Aid Office assists students to determine what aid they may qualify for and help them obtain it. The Financial Aid Office provides information about awards, bursaries and scholarships.

Sheridan is dedicated to helping new students make a successful transition to College by providing support throughout your first academic year. What do we do for first year students?

• communicate just-in-time information relevant to first years
• call students prior to starting classes to answer questions
• coordinate New Student Orientation
• provide student to student mentoring

Health Services are available at Sheridan’s Trafalgar and Davis campuses and offer professional health care, lifestyle and health counseling, and referrals for students. Registered nurses and physicians handle emergency matters, minor treatment, and health education and promotion on a strictly confidential basis. Students with special health requirements are welcome to drop-in to make appropriate arrangements for their health care needs.

The International Centre covers services including student recruitment, admissions and retention. Sheridan also actively works with educational agents and is open to new business partnership opportunities.

The Library and Learning Commons at each campus is a constant hub of activity at Sheridan. Find computers, lounge areas and group worktables, or book a private group study room at each of our locations. Access articles, e-books, online language training tools, software training courses and streaming video via your Access Sheridan login from any computer with an internet connection. Our Library team provides academic support including research help and assistance with citing sources and guidance on academic honesty policy and procedures.

The Office of the Registrar (OTR) is a part of every stage of your life at Sheridan. From your first inquiry, to your application for admission, to student finances, through your enrollment, academic progress and record, until your graduation day the OTR will support you. The OTR ensures the accuracy, integrity and security of all student records. The Office of the Registrar (OTR) is committed to supporting student success by providing in-person, online, telephone and self-service information. The OTR has offices at each of our campuses, Davis, Hazel McCallion, Skills Training Centre and Trafalgar Road. myOTR online is the online portal to the Office of the Registrar that draws together a host of useful guides, resources and contacts.

Records and Registration and Scheduling are responsible for the maintenance of academic records, processing in person fee payments, issuance of timetables, provision of transcripts and awarding credentials, class scheduling and assignment and annual convocation activities. We service current students, alumni and faculty. There are Records and Registration offices at each of our campuses to provide in person service.

Residence at Sheridan combines affordable, modern accommodations with the convenience of on-campus living. Both the Davis Campus (Brampton) and the Trafalgar Road Campus (Oakville) have residence buildings, each offering living and study spaces for 350 students. Sheridan’s Student Union provides a listing of available off-campus housing and is dedicated to helping students find a convenient place to live.

Accessible Learning Services facilitates equal access for eligible students with disabilities by coordinating reasonable academic accommodations and support services. Students are encouraged to self-identify with the services as early as possible after acceptance to the College so we can ensure your needs are met in timely manner. Students must present documentation of disability to be eligible to receive services.

The Student Rights and Responsibilities office administers the Student Code of Conduct, which governs non-academic behaviour at Sheridan College. All students have a responsibility to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment that supports student success through their adherence to the Student Code of Conduct. When addressing violations of the Student Code of Conduct, we strive to employ an educational approach in our sanctioning to foster student development and good citizenship at Sheridan.

Sheridan is committed to providing you with opportunities to learn inside and outside of the classroom. Through volunteering on or off campus, participating in special events or becoming a Sheridan Peer Mentor you will develop and apply the skills necessary to be successful, meet new people and also help our communities. The Sheridan Student Union (SSUI) is an organized body that represents the full-time and part-time students of Sheridan College. Simply put: we exist to serve you, the students. We unite the student body through our programs and services and are responsible for the representation of students to Sheridan College community. We work hard to be a voice for Sheridan students while making your academic experience the best it can be. We strive to safeguard the best interests of the student body throughout the whole year, so let us know if there is something you feel needs to be addressed. Because, remember: we are here for you!

It is common for first year students to consider changing their program. If you are unsure you’ve chosen the right program of study or want to better understand where your program is taking you,  you are advised to meet with a Career Counsellor.  A Career Counsellor can help you:

• assess your skills, interests and personality
• explore career options/alternatives
• understand the labour market and future trends

Information Technology is the hub for technology-based services at Sheridan. I.T. is committed to supporting and improving the learning, teaching and administrative functions at Sheridan. Students can access the I.T. website to get access to the resources and services they need to get connected to technology at Sheridan. The I.T. Help Desk provides telephone and email support and is a central point of contact for the analysis and resolution of problems and queries relating to information technologies at Sheridan.

Staff tutoring provides free support in Math, English and Java from University of Waterloo senior co-op students. Peer tutoring provides support in course subjects. Peer tutors are Sheridan students selected based on their marks and a faculty reference. For a matching fee of $20, students receive 10 hours of tutoring per subject, per semester. Group tutoring provides peer-supported learning in a drop-in group setting. Group tutoring is available for a variety of subjects like Basic Computing Skills, Accounting, Java and more.
