Job Connect, the employment service offered through Sheridan Institute, was recently presented with a Minister's Award of Excellence in recognition of its success in achieving or exceeding the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities' standards in customer service, effectiveness and efficiency, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Connect Sheridan opened in 1997, and provides youth and adult employment services. It is funded by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Services are tailored to meet the needs of individual clients, and may include job placement, career exploration and training opportunities, resumé preparation and access to job banks. Job Connect also offers free access to its fully-equipped resource centre.

Each year, Job Connect Sheridan provides service to an average of 2,000 clients, and delivers employment and life skills workshops to over 1400 clients a year.

"Job Connect services transform the lives of individuals, employers and entire communities," said Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities John Milloy, in making the presentation. "We are grateful to the people and organizations who deliver this program, and these awards are just one way of recognizing the important work they do." This year marks the sixth anniversary of the Minister's Awards of Excellence, and the third time that Sheridan's Job Connect service has been a recipient.
