Students in Sheridan's Corporate Communications graduate certificate program made their mark in the professional world by organizing the prestigious 2008 Pinnacle Awards for the Canadian Public Relations Society.

Students in Sheridan's Corporate Communications graduate certificate program made their mark in the professional world by organizing the prestigious 2008 Pinnacle Awards for the Canadian Public Relations Society. Held at the Ancaster Old Mill on April 2, the awards celebrated the distinctive and outstanding work of CPRS Hamilton members.

"This was a very polished, professional event," says Hilary Sadler, Corporate Communications professor. "Through their dedication and attention to detail, these students set a new standard for future CPRS awards events." In addition to earning a credit in their program, the students benefited from the hands-on experience of planning and conducting a special event from start to finish. "The hard work of these students made this year's Pinnacle Awards a night to remember," said CPRS Hamilton President, Carleen Caroll.

In addition to organizing the event, a team of Corporate Communications students also brought home a prize in the Student Project Category. Leah Frankiewicz, Martin Jackson, Nicole Turkstra, Erin Wannamaker and Justine Wilk received the Award of Merit for their media relations plan in support of The Sixth Annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon.

Sheridan's one-year Corporate Communications program provides students with a springboard into a wide variety of exciting and rewarding careers. Whether their interests and strengths lie in writing or verbal communications, business or social causes, the program prepares students with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
