Social Service Worker - Gerontology
Graduation Year: 2002
After graduating from the Social Service Worker- Gerontology Program I was employed by an organization in Atlanta, Georgia working with disadvantaged youth.
Disability Services at Sheridan employed me in 2002. For the next three years I worked with them in various roles.
I am now attending Lakehead University for Teacher's College and am currently working for the Office of University Advancement as the Supervisor of the Phonathon Program.
Sheridan offered me a number of great opportunities and introduced me to wonderful contacts. Without Sheridan, I would not be where I am today, pursuing a career in teaching differently-abled individuals.
My advice for students: ‘This too shall pass.’ Remember this quote. Say it to yourself when times get tough, because they most likely will. Don't give up, no matter how stressed you become. Your time at Sheridan will fly by so embrace every moment, even the stressful ones because in the end, all of these moments are shaping who you are, and who you are becoming.
