Sheridan’s plumbing certificate program provides top-notch preparation for apprenticeship and employment in the plumbing field. Students go a long way in just 28 weeks, learning the most current practices in the plumbing trade while earning a credential that employers will respect. It’s the first step toward a career as a professional tradesperson – and there’s no better place to start than Sheridan.
This program trains students for entry-level positions in the field of plumbing. Plumbers install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Courses include:
- Manufacturing Trade Safety
- Codes, Standards and Regulations
- Plumbing Practice and Theory (piping, tubing and fittings; drains, sewers and vents; plumbing)
- Blue Print Reading and Trade Documentation
- Plumbing Trade Calculations
- General Education Elective
- Communications for the Trades
Students also learn how to conduct a job search, maintain proper work documentation, and communicate effectively on the job. Sheridan instructors have years of experience as plumbing practitioners and contractors. They’ll serve as mentors and career coaches long after you’ve graduated.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Program Eligibility
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:
- One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U)
or
Mature student status. (See "Admissions" section for details.)
Applicant Selection
Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of previous academic achievement (the average of their six highest senior-level credits, including required courses).
Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements for this program will be assessed and advised individually and may be considered for other, related programs.
