SERC receives a one-year grant of $50,000 awarded to Director Pat Spadafora

This is a significant “first” for Sheridan and Canadian Polytechnic Institutions – of 59 applications received, 21 were funded, with Sheridan being the only college.  The project, entitled ‘Movement Matters: Dance as a Health Promotion Strategy’, offers an innovative opportunity to learn more about the potential for dance to encourage healthy and successful aging and to maintain functional autonomy in an older population.

This award brings a new research group (comprising academics, researchers and service providers) together and has the potential for facilitating the formation of a larger team focused on creative aging.
