Sheridan Child Care Centre
Philosophy
The Sheridan College Child Care Centre at the Trafalgar Road Campus in Oakville provides high quality programming based on the High/Scope Philosophy of education. The High/Scope Curriculum is based on the well documented research of recognized theorists (Piaget and Erickson) as well as ongoing research at the High/Scope Foundation in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Children are seen as “Active Learners” who, supported by their teachers, develop new understanding through active exploration of materials, ideas and events.
Our programs provide a total curriculum which allow for the optimal growth of children in all areas including social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The children are supported in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes self-esteem and self confidence and provides ongoing opportunity for decision-making and problem solving.
Each child and family is recognized as being unique. Family styles, values, cultures, and traditions are respected and reflected in the curriculum.
